It’s our area’s most diverse fishing location. Lake Taneycomo features record breaking rainbow trout and trophy brown trout. Fishermen love the bass, crappie and blue gill fishing in Branson MO as well. There are a myriad of marinas, fun and free family outdoor activities, and fish. The Missouri Department of Conservation stocks the waters with almost 700,000 trout each year! Stockings happen several days every week via pontoon boats. The trout are raised at Shepherd of the Hills Hatchery below the Table Rock Dam. How did Lake Taneycomo get its name? The name Lake Taneycomo is a derivative from its location, Taney County MO, which dubbed it “taney-co-mo.”
