The Taneycomo Lake history started in 1913 when the White River was confine by the newly constructed Powersite Dam near Forsyth Missouri. It’s short for Taney County Missouri. It became a reservoir filled with streams and coves perfect for family vacations. Interestingly enough it is the first hydroelectric dam built in Missouri. In 1958, when the Table Rock dam was created 22 miles upstream it created the Taneycomo Lake southern boundary with over 2,000 surface acres.
